Move Over Baby Blankets
If you have read my other blog post about my top knitting and crocheting pattern picks you will know that I love making stuffed toys aka stuffies.
Now don’t get me wrong, I do love baby blankets and I have seen a lot of beautiful ones made with a lot of love. I have been to several baby showers and the parents are always excited to receive a lovely blanket but I do not see many homemade stuffies being given to the parents as a gift. Lately I have been making more and more stuffies so I am not worried about repeating a gift that they may receive several of.
I like to try and find a pattern that relates to my friend who is having the baby. Do they like a certain animal, hobby, colour or have a theme for their shower? For example I just attended a baby shower and both parents are dogsledders so I took this awesome pattern for a husky, chose a colour that matched two of their main sled dogs and added a x-back harness to make a sled dog stuffie. One Final Tip- I personally put an egg shaker inside the body so the stuffie also acts a bit like a rattle. I buy egg shakers from music stores that have a solid body so they won’t break apart.
So move over baby blankets and make way for homemade stuffies.
